The sound of the Qiantang River tide never ceases, and the cultural heritage of its basin continues in an unbroken flow over a long period. As the mother river that nourishes the land of Zhejiang, the Qiantang River links together a 10,000-year history of rice cultivation, a 5,000-year history of ritual civilization, and the cultural essence of successive dynasties, forming a regional civilizational system marked by strong continuity, broad inclusiveness, and high distinctiveness. It occupies a unique and important position in the pluralistic yet integrated framework of Chinese civilization. Deepening the research on Qiantang River civilization is not only an academic responsibility in advancing the exploration of civilization origins and carrying forward historical roots, but also a practical need for serving the construction of a cultural power and enhancing the soft power of regional culture. Following the successful expert symposium held in January 2026 and the publication of the first issue of the written discussion column in this journal, this issue continues to present the“Written symposinm on ‘Qiantang River Civilization Studies’ ”. Six experts, drawing on a multi-disciplinary perspective, have delved deeply into topics such as ideological inheritance, civilization interpretation, scientific archaeology, and poetic and cultural heritage, injecting new academic thinking and research vitality into this field. This journal will maintain a long-term column on“Qiantang River Civilization Studies”, expecting continued attention and joint efforts from scholars at home and abroad to further expand the research scope, jointly building an academic peak in the research of Qiantang River civilization.
